Sailing the heavens with the Pharaoh Kings

Before going to Egypt in December, I thought I had some the most over the top perfectionist boating friends and customers.  Boy, did I find out how mild you all are.  Nothing compared to accent Egyptian pharaohs.  Not only were the Pharaohs kings fussy and high maintenance in during their lives, they took it one whole step the further believing in the afterlife.  The insides of tombs were adorned with, chariots, furniture, games, musical instruments, mummified pets (including crocodiles), weapons, papyrus scrolls of book of thew dead to guide to guide them their life after death. The tomb wall and ceiling are scribed with mural scenes carved and painted in Hierographic accounts of their achievement during their reign and some guides for the afterlife.

They believed they would use ‘Solar boats’ to sail thru heavens and continuing there exploits in the afterlife.  Most of the evidence of these boats have long ago been plundered and stolen buy grave robbers thousands of years ago. The Hierographic etched and painted on the wall show clearly this.  In Tutuncarmoom’s tomb, one of the only un-robbed tombs ever found, they find models boats for the purpose.

King Tut's solar boat

Not only model boats, but recently discovered two boats found, disassembled and entombed very close to King Khufu's tomb. Ready for him in his afterlife cruising. Maybe racing with the other dead kings, who knows?  I saw these exhibited in new Grand Cairo Egyptian Museum museum, huge exhibit  for King Khufu's solar boats. These boat where the first constructed 4,600-year-ago, are now reassembled and now on now displayed.  They measure LOA 143’, beam 19’, disp 45ton. Rememeber steel steel had not been invented yet!  No screws or nails, just laskings and wooden pegs.  This is serious stuff.  Step aside modern days sailors you were outdone 46 centuries ago by kings who carried on sailing after they were dead! He had two, maybe for match racing?
